This semester of the school year was a tad bit stressful. It shouldn't have been stressful, but of course I made it stressful. As most know, I am currently a 3rd/4th grade teacher out in the sand hills of Nebraska. I love my job. I love my community. I love my students. However, I didn't love my life outside of school and coaching. Being in the sand hills meant I would travel 30+ miles just to see a friend or to go grocery shopping. It was starting to wear on my heart. I knew that God had brought my to Tryon for a reason, but I didn't feel comfortable that He still felt that same way.
In January I began my long search of a new job. I knew I wanted someplace that allowed me to be closer to family, friends, and maybe even some young single males so I can have a chance of getting married sometime within the next 50 years. In the beginning the only schools interviewing and hiring were small schools. I didn't think it would make since to move from one small school to another, so I began searching the larger districts. Which just added to my stress level. (Who knew that large school districts don't start interviewing until the end of March?? Not me. Stress level through the roof.) But then God came through...
I began receiving offers to interview and before I knew it I had several interviews. So of course my stress level switched from being impatient to having to make decisions. Silly right? I decided to switch my thinking and began to think how blessed I was that God was giving me opportunities TO interview and have to make a decision about where to go. Not many people get that opportunity and I am lucky.
I am very happy to announce that I will be moving to Lincoln this summer and begin my teaching career there in a 3rd grade class. I can't wait for this new setting and transition. It might take some adjusting to get use to stop lights again :) And I'm hoping to find single guys within a 30 mile radius. :) I believe so strongly that this is what God wants for my life and I am saying "yes" to him.
I am going to miss McPherson County so much. I have learned and experienced more than I ever thought was possible in such a small town. I have crossed off many firsts from my bucket list and will never forget these experiences. I have been blessed with wonderful students who love learning and who make my job easy.
God is good. And He always does what he says he will. In his own time, and his own way.
