I realize I am 5 days late to sharing my 2013 story, but I figure it's better late than never :)
I can honestly say that 2013 was one of the best years of my life. I had many "first" experiences and I'm looking forward to 2014 being even better. God is truly amazing. I will never be able to say that enough to truly proclaim His beauty and love. I've done so little to deserve a life like this, yet He still blesses me day in and day out. There are days and times where life is tough. Money is tight, romances go wrong, friends and family disappear, and yet God is still there. Doing His thing for me. He provides for me in good and bad moments. He loves me unconditionally. 2013 was a tough year with tough moments. And yet, here I am still. Fighting my way through and becoming stronger.
In 2013 I...
-Completed my first year of teaching
-Attended and participated in my first branding
-Bought my first pair of cowboy boots
-Coached my first golf team
-Thought I was "in love" (Thankful I realized I wasn't, bc I now can't wait for true love)
-Experienced heart break in a new way
-Traveled to Minnesota with my sisters
-Made the decision to travel to Africa for a mission trip
-Had some annoying (and expensive) health issues
-Experienced a miracle of my health issues
-Received $3,000 for technology in my classroom
-Started an FCA for our school (my coolest experience of the year)
-And last (but certainly not least), fell more in love with God everyday. His Grace and Mercy are powerful. He saves me everyday.
I feel so blessed with each experience I get to partake in. Everyday I wake up is a "do-over" to be the best me possible. An opportunity to praise God and to live my life not so others see who I am, but so others can see God through me.
2014 is going to be a great year. I know I will have my fair share of disappointments as we all do. But because I'm prepared and know that will happen, I will be able to make the best of each situation. God puts each of us on Earth for a purpose. Our time here is precious. I don't know how long I will live or be able to do the things that I'm able to. But I do know I will do my best to make each day worthwhile. Call these resolutions, or goals, or whatever you want.
In 2014 I will...
-Thank God daily.
-Be the best teacher that I can be. Give my heart each day to my students. Listen to and hear them more.
-Ask God daily to lead me to where I need to be
-Be healthier (and cheaper)...save more and eat better.
-Smile at people more and be a better friend, sister, daughter, and stranger.
-Serve others over myself.
-Cross some items off my bucket list (publish a book, serve on a mission trip, finish a quilt, etc...)
-Treat myself how I deserve...AKA don't allow others to be disrespectful or treat me any less than I deserve.
-To love life. Love the journey, love the emotions, love the disappointments. Each one of them helps me become a better person.
-Help citizens in Uganda who need the help. Love them, care for them, teach them, and give my heart to them.
I am looking forward to life away from doctors (fingers crossed). A life with my heart full of joy. A life with more savings. A life of love. Regardless of what happens I will praise God. Through the sunshine and storm, I will love Him. I will follow Him. I will lead others towards Him. And I will do all this because I have a vision. A vision that God has placed. I am beyond excited to spend some time in Africa loving on students. Kids are the future and hope of their county and they deserve the best possible.
Here is to a year of new experiences. A year of love and disappointments. Allow it to be your best year yet, and it will.
